Clinical reference pricing
What an UpToDate subscription costs, and what else is available
An individual UpToDate subscription is sold in tiers. Per EvidenceMD's clinical AI pricing roundup, standard professional access starts from about $579 a year and Pro Plus, which includes Expert AI, from about $699. UpToDate does not publish either figure. Many clinicians reach it free through a hospital, university, or residency licence, so the list price often only becomes visible when that affiliation ends.

What to require from a clinical reference
Does it answer at the depth your specialty works at?
A broad summary is fine for a question outside your field and thin for one inside it. Check how an answer reads for the cases you actually see.
Can you see the reasoning, not just the conclusion?
A cited conclusion tells you what to think. A visible reasoning trace lets you judge whether the reasoning survives contact with your patient.
Who funds the answers?
Several free clinical tools are funded by pharmaceutical advertising. That is a reasonable trade to accept knowingly and a poor one to accept unknowingly.
What happens when the evidence is thin?
A tool that signals uncertainty is more useful at the bedside than one that always sounds equally confident.

Which one fits your situation
Where UpToDate is still the better answer
If your institution already provides it, your marginal cost is zero, and its topic reviews remain a dependable reference for established questions in well-covered areas.
Where AtlasGPT fits
AtlasGPT is built for the specialty-level question: it reasons across 35 medical specialties, shows its reasoning, cites inline, and carries no pharmaceutical advertising in its answers. Clinician-validated by 1,000+ attending physicians.
The moment this decision usually arrives
Training ends and the institutional licence ends with it, so a reference that was effectively free becomes a list-price decision. That is the point most clinicians re-evaluate what they actually need.
On our evaluation of NEJM case records, physicians reasoning with AtlasGPT reached 90%, against a 20% unaided baseline.

Why are some prices on this page described as approximate?
